A weekend in Vancouver

Vancouver is situated on Canada's West Coast and is the largest city in British Columbia. It is a city well-known for its beauty and culture and is encircled by snow-capped mountains and blue sea. Spending a weekend in Vancouver allowed us to take in some of what this beautiful city has to offer.

Here, in pictures, are some of our favourite places we visited. 

Granville island is a peninsula and market area located under the South end of the Granville Street bridge.

147 metres up the Vancouver Lookout provides one of the most breath-taking views over the city.

Capilano Suspension Bridge park is just a 30 minute bus ride from downtown and is most definitely worth a visit. The park, as one of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver, includes a walk over the wobbly suspension bridge, cliff walk and treetops adventure. The treetops adventure allows you to walk between suspension bridges 100 feet up into old-growth trees.

Things I wish I knew then

No matter how much you try to prepare yourself for your first summer as a camp counsellor, you will always be surprised when you arrive. I never thought I would get to experience half of the things I was able to at camp. I believe that the best thing to do is to leave all expectations at home and take on your adventure as it comes. However, these small insights might help you to approach your first summer. This job will be challenging, but rewarding.  Granted, you are going to be exhausted and have absolutely no alone time. But, you have the opportunity to impact so many lives. To campers you are what makes camp and you are the reason they keep coming back every year. It is important to remember that such a demanding job has so much to give in return.   This may be the only job you have where you get to embrace the great outdoors 24/7. Montréal, Québec

I spent 5 days in Montréal with two amazing friends that I met working at camp in America over the past two summers. Spending the week with these friends in such a beautiful city allowed me to reflect on the beauty of camp and reminded me how grateful I am that it brought these incredible women into my life.  Montréal is in the province of Québec and is recognised for its vibrance and culture.  Downtown Montréal Old Montréal   Notre-Dame Basilica. We attended the Aura light show at the Basilica which was a breathtaking experience. For the 30 minute show the interior of the 189 year old church was lit up in a beautiful light and sound experience. This is definitely a must see when visiting the city.   Mount Royal -  a natural landmark in Montréal that provides a beautiful view over the city. Montréal Food culture.
